Big Weekend Ahead for CrowdStrike at Road America
- CrowdStrike cybersecurity summit part of SRO America weekend
- GT Paddock Club, pre-race parade among activations at world-famous racetrack
- Kurtz, Braun anticipating pair of races in CrowdStrike/AWS Mercedes-AMG GT3
- “Every second counts”… on the racetrack and in cybersecurity
SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2019) – CrowdStrike Racing is readying for a big weekend at one of the most recognized circuits on SRO America’s racing schedule. The Road America weekend in Wisconsin will have a big-event feel from start to finish with CrowdStrike playing a large role throughout.
The Official Internet and Cloud Security Provider for SRO America, CrowdStrike will feature prominently at a number of different happenings in and around Elkhart Lake. At the center of it all are the 11th and 12th rounds of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America season, with George Kurtz and Colin Braun piloting the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/Accel/DXDT Mercedes-AMG GT3.
As at each Blancpain GT World Challenge event, this weekend features two 90-minute races with both featuring a mandatory pit stop and driver change. With four GT3 races remaining this season, Kurtz and Braun sit fifth in points with a runner-up finish and third-place result highlighting their campaign. Like many competitors, Kurtz and Braun count the 4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America circuit as a favorite on the race calendar.
The weekend’s second race on Sunday will air live on CBS Sports Network at 3 p.m. ET/noon PT.
“This is one of the weekends that everyone at CrowdStrike has been looking forward to all season,” said Kurtz, CrowdStrike co-founder and CEO. “Road America provides fantastic racing, and we’ll be joined by customers who have enjoyed this track before plus a few who will experience a CrowdStrike race weekend for the first time. SRO America has provided a great platform for CrowdStrike to promote its cybersecurity protection and series partnership, on and off the track. We look forward to another tremendous weekend.”
Every Second Counts
Speed is a critical factor at Road America for a number of reasons, and CrowdStrike champions the idea that “every second counts.” Not only is Road America one of the fastest tracks for CrowdStrike Racing in SRO America, the pit stop must be done quickly and efficiently to gain track position each race.
In the same vein, speed and efficiency are foundations of CrowdStrike’s cybersecurity portfolio. Using the same philosophy that “every second counts”, CrowdStrike is committed to protecting cloud-based information of its clients as well as providing robust solutions to counter and respond to breach attempts by outside intruders.
Of note, leading research shows that users have less than a minute to detect an intrusion, ten minutes to determine how it happened and sixty minutes to contain the event before data is compromised. Taking all that into account, it’s easy to see the correlations between strategies of securing data and racing strategies to secure victories.
“This is the backbone of our product line. It ties perfectly into racing,” Kurtz said. “We want to be fast on the racetrack, but more important is how quickly CrowdStrike provides end-to-end protection of our clients’ data and information and intercedes in hacking attempts. We expect to be industry leaders in both areas.”
Weekend Action Off-Track
There is much more to CrowdStrike’s weekend than what will take place on the track. It all started Thursday evening with the inaugural SRO car parade – which included the CrowdStrike/AWS Mercedes-AMG and CJ Moses’ CrowdStrike/AWS Audi R8 LMS GT4 – from the track to the famed Siebkins Resort in the village of Elkhart Lake. Once in town, the cars remained on display for the public during the evening.
CrowdStrike’s own activation continues with another CXO Summit. It’s a unique, exclusive peer learning program that brings together CrowdStrike partners, customers and guests to discuss emerging trends in cybersecurity. At Road America, guest speakers will include CrowdStrike/AWS racing driver CJ Moses as well as Shawn Henry, President of CrowdStrike Services.
In addition, CrowdStrike will provide multiple levels of hospitality options for its guests including the SRO’s GT Paddock Club, of which CrowdStrike and AWS are leading sponsors. The upscale hospitality venue is the perfect place for CrowdStrike VIPs to make business-to-business connections with other business owners within the SRO paddock.
CrowdStrike also will provide its own hospitality with a suite at the track’s frontstretch tower for the weekend. Views of one of the fastest permanent road courses in the country, along with great local food and drinks will be on the hospitality menu for the weekend.
In Braun’s mind, this is the perfect way to continue the late-season charge for he, Kurtz and CrowdStrike’s supporters.
“I’m happy to be over the summer ‘break’ and getting into a rhythm now that we are racing consistently,” Braun said. “As we continue to build momentum, I’m looking forward to driving with George at Road America and putting the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/Accel/DXDT Mercedes-AMG GT3 on top of the podium! There will be a lot of folks there from CrowdStrike so it will be fun to meet everyone and hopefully celebrate together in victory lane!”
The Blancpain GT World Challenge America will compete at Road America from Sept. 20-22. Race One is set for 2:10 p.m. CT on Saturday with Race Two at 2:15 p.m. ET on Sunday and airing live on CBS Sports Network. For more information, visit CrowdStrikeRacing.com.
