CrowdStrike Set for Grand Finale to SRO Race Season in Las Vegas

  • Season finale marks end of landmark year of activation with SRO America
  • CXO attendees to participate in CrowdStrike cybersecurity summit, GT Paddock Club
  • Kurtz, Braun aim to close season with positive finishes in CrowdStrike/AWS Mercedes-AMG GT3

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Oct. 15, 2019) – CrowdStrike will look to close the SRO America sportscar racing season in grand style this weekend with the 2019 finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Official Internet and Cloud Security Provider of SRO America, CrowdStrike has an impressive weekend of activities lined up both on and off the race track.

The final event of this year’s championship is a celebration of CrowdStrike’s accomplishments in 2019. In addition to its groundbreaking level of activation and hospitality in partnership with AWS at SRO America events, CrowdStrike Racing will wrap its participation in the SRO’s Blancpain GT America championship with the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/Accel/DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Making Every Second Count

The weekend is a chance for CrowdStrike to prove its mantra that “every second counts”. It goes for the performance of Kurtz, teammate Colin Braun and the DXDT Racing team on the track. In addition, CrowdStrike works to make every second count for its corporate guests through its at-track hospitality program which is activated at SRO America’s GT Paddock Club.

“This is an exciting time for CrowdStrike and SRO America,” said George Kurtz, co-founder and CEO of CrowdStrike. “It is a great opportunity to close our season of partnership and competition in the SRO championships in Las Vegas. We are very happy to celebrate this successful season with our partners Amazon Web Services, Accel, Sinet, Ceramic Pro, Sparco and Simcraft. I know we all can’t wait to experience the Las Vegas finale with our cybersecurity guests.”

Global World Challenge Manufacturer Title on the Line

A solid result for Kurtz and Braun will bolster Mercedes-AMG’s chances in the season-long World Challenge, a global championship among GT3 manufacturers in the SRO Motorsports Group’s sprint-based championships in America, Europe and Asia.

Mercedes-AMG currently leads the standings over Ferrari with only the Las Vegas round of the American championship left to go. Kurtz and DXDT Racing teammate David Askew were among the four drivers nominated by Mercedes-AMG earlier this year to score points in the Manufacturers Championship.

With both the European and Asian series having concluding their seasons, Kurtz and Askew are in a prime position to deliver a title for Mercedes-AMG.

‘Roval’ Racing a Different Experience for CrowdStrike Racing

Kurtz and Braun will pilot the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG in two 90-minute races on the “roval” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The circuit – yet to be finalized – will be a mix of the speedway’s oval track and infield road course. Kurtz has yet to compete on a roval while Braun is a past winner in prototype competition.

The Kurtz/Braun pairing stand fifth in points heading into their finale of their first season together in the SRO’s top-level championship. They have recorded seven top-five finishes in the last eight races.

”I’m looking forward to going to Vegas. It’s a new layout and I don’t think many drivers have raced it in other series so I think the playing field will be a bit leveled,” Braun said. “It will be fun to race at night too, I’m looking forward to that. This is the first year George and I have visited all these tracks in the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/Accel/DXDT Mercedes-AMG GT3 which puts us a bit behind the other teams who have been in a GT3 for years. Overall we’ve had a solid year but I want to finish strong for George, CrowdStrike, DXDT, and all the guests that will be hanging out with us that weekend. I’d love to cap off the year with a group photo in victory lane!”

What Happens in Vegas

Just as important as the showing on the track is the thought leadership championed off of it, as evidenced by the plans CrowdStrike has for its C-level guests who will attend Las Vegas. A full schedule of business networking activities for cybersecurity professionals is planned for Friday-Sunday.

CrowdStrike will hold its final CXO Risk Management Workshop of the race season during the race weekend. It is the continuation of an exclusive program that allows CrowdStrike guests and cybersecurity professionals to discuss emerging trends and threats in Internet and cloud cybersecurity. The Las Vegas session will be led by Shawn Henry, CrowdStrike President and CSO along with CrowdStrike Racing GT4 driver CJ Moses, who is Deputy CISO and VP of Security Engineering for AWS.

Once at the track, guests will have the opportunity to visit SRO America’s GT Paddock Club – the series’ trackside hospitality headquarters and of which CrowdStrike is a leading sponsor. In addition to top-notch hospitality, the GT Paddock Club is an ideal location for CrowdStrike guests to make business-to-business connections with other SRO business leaders in the paddock.

CrowdStrike’s group also will have the opportunity to meet Kurtz, Braun and the DXDT Racing team to experience the CrowdStrike motorsports program.

“The final event of the season is always a big weekend,” Kurtz said. “We all are anticipating a great week on and off the track for CrowdStrike and our guests – just as we have had all year in SRO America.”

The Blancpain GT World Challenge America will finish its season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 17-19. Race One is set for 10:55 a.m. PT on Saturday with Race Two at 7:30 p.m. PT the same day and airing live on CBS Sports Network. For more information, visit
