CrowdStrike to Showcase SRO Partnership, Participation to Home Crowd
- CrowdStrike the Official Internet and Cloud Security Provider for SRO America
- Blancpain GT round at Sonoma includes return of CrowdStrike CXO Summit, GT Paddock Club
- Kurtz, Braun aim for more points, podiums in CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3
SUNNYVALE, Calif. (June 3, 2019) – This weekend’s round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America championship will be a uniquely special one for CrowdStrike Racing. As the Official Internet and Cloud Security Provider for SRO America, CrowdStrike will be very active this weekend at Sonoma Raceway – both on and off track.
Sonoma is the home track for CrowdStrike, less than two hours from its headquarters and the tech-heavy Silicon Valley region of California. As a result, there will be plenty of support for CrowdStrike and its No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/Accel/DXDT Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by George Kurtz and Colin Braun. They will compete in a pair of 90-minute races – one each on Saturday and Sunday.
A large number of CrowdStrike staff, customers and guests will be on-hand at the 2.51-mile, 12-turn road course north of San Francisco.
Many of those guests will take part in CrowdStrike’s fourth CXO Summit of the season. The one-of-a-kind gathering is made up of cybersecurity executives and leaders who will hear from Shawn Henry, President of CrowdStrike Services, on trends within the industry and how CrowdStrike is positioning itself at the forefront. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is event co-sponsor with a number of attendees expected present. Among them are CJ Moses, Deputy CISO and VP of Security Engineering; and Angelo Comazzetto, Principal, Office of the CISO.
Also of note is the return of the SRO America’s GT Paddock Club, which is sponsored by CrowdStrike. The GT Paddock Club is a trackside hospitality unit that will host guests of CrowdStrike and AWS – among others – while promoting business-to-business contacts and relationships.
“The Sonoma weekend will represent one of the biggest for CrowdStrike, and we’re understandably very excited,” said Kurtz, CrowdStrike co-founder and CEO. “This is a chance for us to highlight our wide-ranging Official Partnership as well as our participation in SRO America to many of our staff and customers. Between our CXO Summit, sponsorship of the GT Paddock Club and racing our Mercedes-AMG GT3, this is shaping up to be one of the most important activation events of the year. Just as critical is the contribution of our team sponsors AWS, Accel, CeramicPro, SimCraft, SINET and Sparco. We appreciate what they do to make these weekends possible.”
On the racetrack, Kurtz and Braun are coming off their second Pro-Am podium finish of the year earlier this month at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The pair left Ontario with a third-place finish just after their runner-up finish at Virginia International Raceway in April.
As a result, Kurtz and Braun stand fourth in the Pro-Am Drivers Championship after six of 14 rounds.
“Racing at Sonoma in the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/DXDT Mercedes-AMG GT3 is certainly a highlight of the season!” said Braun. “As a driver, the track presents a variety of challenges but I feel like George and I are ready for it! We’ve had two podium finishes in the last two races and we’re looking to build on that at Sonoma. The track itself is a fan favorite and is known for its great viewing spots which is perfect since CrowdStrike will have a ton of folks out for the race. We’ve been working really hard and hope to capture that first win for CrowdStrike in Sonoma!”
The Sonoma event is one of two major motorsport activations for CrowdStrike this weekend. It also is present at the FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAND PRIX DU CANADA as part of a global partnership with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport. It will be the first North American race in CrowdStrike’s first year as the official cybersecurity partner for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport.
The Blancpain GT World Challenge America will compete at Sonoma Raceway from June 7-9. Race One is set for 2:45 p.m. PT on Saturday with Race Two at 11:15 a.m. PT on Sunday and airing live on CBS Sports Network. For more information, visit CrowdStrikeRacing.com.
