SUNNYVALE, Calif. (April 26, 2019) – It has been a busy start to the 2019 SRO America season for CrowdStrike and its collection of drivers. After competing at separate events in the first part of the season, the entire team comes together this weekend for a full slate of action at Virginia International Raceway in both the Blancpain GT World Challenge America and Pirelli GT4 America SprintX championships.

The No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 in Blancpain GT World Challenge and the No. 04 CrowdStrike Audi R8 LMS GT4 in Pirelli GT4 America will, like all the teams in the SRO Americas series, carry the CrowdStrike brand as part of the series sponsorship as they compete for victory through the 17 turns of this scenic road course.

Kurtz/Braun together again in Blancpain GT

Nearly two months after the 2019 season-opening race at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), George Kurtz and Colin Braun are back for the third and fourth rounds of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America championship.

Race 1 for the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/Accel/DXDT Mercedes-AMG GT3 is set for 2:10 p.m. ET on Saturday with Race 2 at 1:15 p.m. ET on Sunday; the latter will air live on CBS Sports Network. Each race is 90-minutes long and will be streamed live on gt-world-challenge-america.com.

The VIR weekend will be the second event for the Kurtz/Braun pairing in the SRO’s top category with the CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG. They opened the season with a ninth-place GT Pro-Am finish at COTA, followed the next day by a fourth-place category showing to establish solid early-season momentum.

“Colin and I are excited to race the No. 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at this track with support from the DXDT crew,” Kurtz said. “Along with CJ and James’ GT4 races in the Audi R8, the CrowdStrike and AWS staff who will come out to VIR will get to see our corporate partnerships of the SRO Americas series in action. In 2018, Kurtz and his co-driver Braun raced a CrowdStrike Audi R8 LMS to a pair of top-10 finishes in GTS SprintX competition including a fourth-place finish to close the weekend.

“George and I are back at VIR in a bigger and faster car which will be fun!” said Braun. “VIR is a big, flowing track and is one of my favorite tracks in North America! George and I have some history together now and that, coupled with the rhythm of this track, will make for some action-packed racing in the Mercedes-AMG GT3. We had a great test there and the DXDT crew have done an excellent job tweaking on the setup for the race. Should be a great race weekend for CrowdStrike!”

Moses, Sofronas Team Up for GT4 SprintX Effort

After two weekends and three races of being in single-driver competition, CrowdStrike Racing’s CJ Moses is moving to SprintX competition for the VIR weekend. Following a pair of top-10 category finishes in his first three races, Moses will team with GT4 veteran and defending series champion James Sofronas in the pair of one-hour races.

The first is scheduled for 4:50 p.m. ET on Saturday followed by Race 2 at 4:10 p.m. ET. Each will be streamed live on gt4-america.com.

Moses and Sofronas will share the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS/Accel/GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 prepared by Global Motorsports Group (GMG Racing). The two have a bond, with Sofronas coaching Moses in his debut GT4 season. Moses also has a home-field advantage at VIR.

“After two street races on the East and West coasts, I can’t wait to unwind at VIR!” said Moses. “My early days as an Audi driving instructor contributed to hours of seat time here, making this my home race. Having our friends from AWS, CrowdStrike and Audi come out and join us at this race will make it even more spectacular!”

Racing alongside his now-teammate, Sofronas finished sixth two weeks ago in a second CrowdStrike Audi R8. In addition to winning last year’s GT4 SprintX championship, Sofronas also won a round at Virginia International Raceway and finished second in another.

“Historically, racing at VIR has been a success for GMG, and pairing up with CJ in the Audi R8 is a great opportunity for both of us to continue that tradition this weekend,” said Sofronas. “He’s a clean racer and a smart driver who knows this track well, and of course has a lot of experience at this track.
