AUSTIN, Texas (April 2, 2024) – CrowdStrike and its CrowdStrike Racing brand kick off another season in SRO Motorsports America this weekend at Sonoma Raceway.

Competitively and commercially, CrowdStrike will be at the forefront throughout its “home” event as it continues to make its mark in the high-profile world of motorsports throughout 2024.

On the racetrack, CrowdStrike Racing will look to recapture the magic from a successful 2023. Three CrowdStrike-affiliated drivers will compete full-time across three SRO America series:

  • George Kurtz – No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 in GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS and GT America Powered by AWS

  • Colin Braun – No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 in GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS

  • Kevin Boehm - No. 97 CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4 in Pirelli GT4 America

Leading the way is the CrowdStrike by Riley team – a collaboration between CrowdStrike’s Racing program and Riley Motorsports. The duo of Kurtz and Braun are back together after winning the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Pro-Am Drivers Championship a year ago with six victories – including the season-ending Indianapolis Eight Hours.

The title marked the third for Kurtz in SRO competition to go along with a 2017 GT4 Am title and the GT America championship in 2022. Braun, already a champion in the prototype racing ranks, claimed his first career GT title.

Their title defense will not be an easy one with 14 entries from six manufacturers expected to contest GT World Challenge America this year.

Kurtz also will return to GT America Powered by AWS for the third consecutive season. The series’ champion in 2022, Kurtz will drive a similar No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3 from CrowdStrike by Riley in the SRO3 category of what has developed into a hard-fought and competitive championship. A year ago, Kurtz won three races with seven additional top-three finishes on his way to a third-place finish in the Drivers Championship.

In Pirelli GT4 America, Boehm and the No. 97 CrowdStrike/AWS BMW M4 GT4 will be part of SRO America’s largest and most competitive category. He and Kenton Koch will be part of the headlining Silver class of the 28-car GT4 America grid with six different manufacturers present.

In his GT4 America debut in 2023, Boehm won three times with Koch as the pairing finished third in the Silver-class Drivers Championship. Back for more in 2024, Boehm’s presence gives CrowdStrike another entry in a high-profile championship.

CrowdStrike Leading in Series Support

CrowdStrike’s participation in SRO America isn’t limited to its on-track activities. The brand is firmly entrenched in a number of key commercial areas that promotes CrowdStrike’s position as an important part of any event weekend.

CrowdStrike is in its seventh year as Official Internet and Cloud Security Provider for SRO Motorsports with an emphasis placed on the North American market. Additionally, CrowdStrike will have multiple activations at SRO events. The CrowdStrike Fastest Lap Award will return, presented to the fastest driver in each SRO Motorsports America series at every event in 2024.

Another key activation at SRO events will be CrowdStrike CXO Summits, which allow VIP guests to learn how to best secure their businesses from breaches. CXO guests have a number of opportunities to get closer to the action of an SRO America weekend, including a chance to tour the racetrack, be part of meet-and-greet sessions with CrowdStrike Racing teams and drivers, enjoy trackside hospitality, give the command to start engines, wave the green flag for any of the six races featuring CrowdStrike Racing and present trophies to winners during post-race podium ceremonies.

At the Sonoma race in April, CrowdStrike will hold an exclusive CXO Summit, led by Shawn Henry – CrowdStrike Chief Security Officer – and Angelo Comazzetto – Director, Office of the CISO at AWS. Key local and regional business figures from a variety of areas – all guests of CrowdStrike – will meet with industry thought leaders to discuss the current trends in cloud computing and cybersecurity.

With Sonoma near CrowdStrike’s founding HQ, there are a number of activities planned for employees and guests around the opening event of the weekend. Most notably is Saturday’s Employee Day, where local CrowdStrike employees and their families have been invited to spend the day exploring and learning about CrowdStrike’s wide range of involvements in SRO America.

CrowdStrike and Operation Motorsport

Another important part of the CrowdStrike Racing program during the Sonoma weekend will be its relationship with Operation Motorsport. A not-for-profit, OpMo provides a chance for medically retiring service members and disabled veterans to use their skill sets in a variety of areas including paddock operations, car and tire prep, marketing, social media and other key areas that are part of a racing program.

The Sonoma weekend continues a proud tradition of CrowdStrike supporting veterans and the Operation Motorsport program. Four OpMo beneficiaries will continue to be part of the CrowdStrike family at Sonoma: Peter McDade, Retired – U.S. Air Force, will serve as a pit crew member on the No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG; Rahsaan Reed, Retired – U.S. Army, will assist CrowdStrike with its employee, partner and CXO marketing programs; and Scott Lagarile – Retired, U.S. Air Force, and Mike VanCour – Retired, U.S. Army, will both serve as crew members on Boehm’s CrowdStrike-sponsored BMW.

All four carried on the OpMo mantra of “Recovery Through Motorsports #OneAtATime.”

CrowdStrike also is a proud part of American Corporate Partners (ACP), which provides CrowdStrike mentors for service members looking to transition to the private sector, and  a partner with HireMilitary, to provide meaningful internship experiences to service members exiting the military via the DoD SkillBridge program.

Driver Quotes

George Kurtz, No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3: "It’s a great feeling to return to GT World Challenge America as defending Pro-Am champion with Colin. As competitive as last year’s series was, we know this year will be even more so. It means a great deal to have CrowdStrike and Riley Motorsports back together for 2024. There is a high level of familiarity with the team which always helps going into a new season. Sonoma is a fantastic place to start the SRO America season, and I can’t wait for it to get going. Also, we look forward to having CrowdStrike employees and their families at the race to cheer us on at our home track.”

Colin Braun, No. 04 CrowdStrike Mercedes-AMG GT3: “I'm really excited to get the SRO season kicked off again in Sonoma! Historically, this has been a great track for both George and I as well as the CrowdStrike by Riley team. With the repave we are looking forward to understanding what sort of driving and setup tweaks we will need to make our Mercedes-AMG GT3 go fast around this great track. I cannot wait to defend our title together this season. I know it will be a big challenge but this group has been working hard to prepare and we are ready to execute.”

Kevin Boehm, No. 97 CrowdStrike BMW M4 GT4: “I've been itching for the GT4 America season to start all winter! Our CrowdStrike BMW M4 GT4 is primed for action, thanks to the Random Vandals Racing team's off-season focus on unlocking more speed. And with this being my fifth year with CrowdStrike, I'm more excited than ever to get back on track. The new track surface could be a game changer, so that'll be a main focus once we're on track.”
