Anglesey, Wales (November 13, 2022) – Two-time touring car champion and CrowdStrike Racing/AWS driver Kevin Boehm closed out a winning 2022 season by participating in the 2022 Race of Remembrance (RoR), held November 11-13, 2022, at Anglesey Circuit, Wales, UK with the non-profit veterans organization, Operation Motorsport.
For the RoR event, Boehm was one of eight drivers representing the USA and Canada. Operation Motorsport was the only North American team competing in the 12-hour sports car endurance race, which was highlighted by a pit lane Remembrance Service on Sunday morning.
The Operation Motorsport team was composed of Canadian and American active duty military personnel, veterans, Skip Barber Racing School staff, donors, and drivers like Boehm, who was invited / sponsored to lend engineering support and drive as a member of the team by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The team fielded two Honda Racing / HPD Civic Type R TCs for the event and the liveries of both cars featured the names of more than 600 active duty military, veterans, and loved ones on the hoods, including major contributions from the veterans’ groups at AWS and CrowdStrike.
Although many of the team’s beneficiaries had not met before the event, they competed against many well prepared and professional teams and finished P6 and P8 in class (P8 and P12 overall). This exceeded expectations and demonstrated the power of veteran recovery through motorsport.
“We’ve been working with Operation Motorsport since 2020, aiding in the recovery of their beneficiaries by embedding them within the CrowdStrike Racing/AWS team throughout the race season,” Boehm said. “Thanks to our partnership with AWS and our shared vision for helping wounded warriors, I was thrilled to participate in the Race of Remembrance with Operation Motorsport. At race events we typically focus on competing, but at the Race of Remembrance, the focus was on teamwork, recovery, setting the beneficiaries up for success, honoring our veterans, and remembering the fallen. Enormously proud of the work our beneficiaries did at the event–you enabled the team to carry the names on the hoods of the cars with honor.”
Operation Motorsport beneficiaries will continue to work with the CrowdStrike Racing/AWS team, including Boehm, during the 2023 race season.
Race of Remembrance will return next year, November 10th-12th, 2023 !
