CrowdStrike guests will have multiple CrowdStrike Racing entries to cheer on throughout the weekend. SRO Motorsports America hosts multiple road-racing series with CrowdStrike present in three:
Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS: George Kurtz and Colin Braun drive the No. 04 CrowdStrike/AWS Mercedes-AMG GT3 for CrowdStrike Racing by Riley Motorsports. GT World Challenge America races feature two drivers in a pair of 90-minute races each weekend. The pairing won a year ago at Sonoma, and this will be their first race with Riley Motorsports providing technical and operational support.
“This year is shaping up to be a very competitive season in GT World Challenge America,” Braun said. “Sonoma is an important race for CrowdStrike since it’s been their home track. It was really special to win there last year with George and the team and it would be awesome to do it again this year. The CrowdStrike team has the people and equipment to build on last year’s momentum and contend for a championship in 2022. We’ve added Riley Motorsports as a partner and the team has been working extremely hard in the off-season. We just need to execute as a team and I’m confident we’ll do just that.”
GT America Powered by AWS: Unlike GT World Challenge, the GT America series is a single-driver championship with two 40-minute races per weekend. Kurtz will tackle the third and fourth rounds of the season on his own.
Kurtz will pilot a CrowdStrike/AWS Mercedes-AMG GT3 from CrowdStrike Racing by Riley Motorsports with the familiar No. 04 on the side. Kurtz enters Sonoma with the championship lead on the back of a victory and third-place finish during the season-opening weekend at St. Petersburg in late February. Last year at Sonoma, he won both GT America races.
TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing School: For the third straight year, CrowdStrike Racing will have Kevin Boehm representing in the TC America series. Boehm, a three-time winner in his first Touring Car season during 2021, will drive the No. 9 CrowdStrike/AWS Honda Civic TC Type R under the Skip Barber Racing organization for 2022.
Boehm recorded a win and runner-up finish in 2021 at Sonoma and finished second in the TC Driver’s Championship. That came a year after winning the TCA title and six races.
“I’m excited to get our season started,” Boehm said. “There is a lot to look forward to from our side. It’s a big weekend for CrowdStrike and obviously I want to do well for its employees and guests. It’s a really great partnership. I’m also looking forward to starting this program with Skip Barber Racing in the Honda Civic TC Type R. We both have lots of experience with this car and hopefully that leads to race wins and a championship. There’s no better place to start that than at Sonoma.”
The Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS event at Sonoma presented by CrowdStrike is part of SRO Motorsports’ America weekend at Sonoma Raceway on April 15-17. All races will stream live on the GT World YouTube channel with CBS Sports Network airing both GT World Challenge races.
